"Alive in Wonderland" The Sitcom?
I have finally decided what format I am going to use to write the sitcom treatment based on my column, "Alive in Wonderland."
Recently, I asked some readers how I should approach writing an outline and eventual treatment about an Orange County mom who writes a blog/column for The Orange County Register called "Alive in Wonderland". (Oh, look at that...same as me.)
After weighing the advantages of doing it online in a blog verses doing it privately and sending it to the usual suspects, I have made up my mind and explain it all here, in this very close-up and tangent-ish (ohhh made up a word) video I made this morning. Here is my answer...
I just want to note that I say I am "just" married to Larry, I spent an enormous amount of time trying to edit the "just" out, but I say it so quickly, I couldn't. So, for the record, being married to Larry is not a "just" sort of thing, he's a big deal--really, really big deal.
I also want to note that I realize I speak like a teenager.
Reality can be brutal.
Here are some of my favorite "Alive in Wonderland's" so far:
Ways to amuse yourself in Orange County.
Frenchy's Great Escape.
Hockey-me vs. Girl-me at the Anaheim Ducks Game.

Very Nice.

To the moon and back LOVE IT! You're so darn adorable, cute, fun (debated on finding other less childlike words but couldn't make brain think). It's so strange how I feel like I know you and I don't but I do. I think we'd be great friends. Good luck you immensely talented & funny girl. I'm a fan!

This is freaky seeing you talk. I need a minute to adjust.

Your bird, Mr. Darcy, was eaten by your cat and now Elizabeth is happier? Jane would NOT approve.
What is your cat's name? Mr. Wickham?

Very funny Doug. NO! name is just Kitty Kitty. You sure know a lot about P&P for a guy...who are you?
Nat, okay...is it that bad?
Carrie, you are adorable too!
Chris, Thanks. I know I can't rival your video skills, but I will try. I am getting the camera you suggested for Mother's Day.

No, not bad. It's like seeing your math teacher at the supermarket or something like. You do talk like a teenager though, that's not bad either, I am just confirming.

You're so cute! I'm new here, so I didn't know. And yeah, it's probably a good idea to lurk when you stumble upon someone's site and sort of see how things go, but I just dove right in the other day, so now I'm like a repeat commenter and feel totally fine making an a@# out of myself.
Oh, and I love the glasses.
So since I'm new, I kinda don't know what's going on, but I love that little video clip, so I hope whatever it is is successful. Mr. Darcy is dead and Elizabeth is happier? That's hilarious.

Hello Ok ,where was I?
Sorry, should have explained better...I write a column for the OC Register called "Alive in Wonderland" and I am trying to get a treatment written for a sitcom based on the column, like Sex in the City, but without all the shoes and sex and stuff. I was debating online how I should go about writing it; online, secretly...so this was the resolution.
Does that explain it? Hope so.
Sorry to be so self involved I think everyone knows
what is going on with me...
I just love your blog and I jumped right in myself.
You are a great writer.

Too funny! You could start a you tube sitcom. Then maybe you can be the next you tube sensation like Obama Girl. Although, you would be far more interesting. THEN you would find yourself on 'This American Life' which of course you would follow up with a segment on Craig's show.
See how it will all fall into place???
Good luck my friend!

Total greatness. Loved it. So very very fun, now I want to do something like that myself. :)
You are just as engaging to watch as you are to read!

You will do great! This video makes me miss you. It's like you have never changed, especially the teenage way of talking. lol

I am new here. I wasn't really sure what you are talking about, but didn't really care because I liked the beginning and the part about Mr. Darcy getting eaten by your cat. Then I went back and read your column and that should go in your sitcom somewhere that is the sort of thing you like to write about and I think that would work well in a sitcom. I am glad you do not want to write a book or a movie.
Agree with nik===too
